Yemen and Saudi Arabia agreed to establish an economic zone in al-Towal Haradh area, said Minister of Trade and Industry, Yahya al-Mutawakel.
The Minister revealed that the Yemeni government is to determine the location of economic zone on the land port of Al-Towal, Haradh area, noting that currently plans and programs are being developed, set for the region and will be submitted later to developers, so we hope that the plans will receive response from Saudi and Yemeni businessmen to invest in this area, as the Al-Towal port is crossed by 60% of businessmen between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
And regarding Al-Wadea area which was established in 2006, said: "We are going to obtain the study, which was prepared by the Consulting Firm and adopted by the Joint Business Council to benefit and develop of this border area in its capacity as the core cooperation between the two countries, which will facilitate the flow of trade and services, especially in the eastern region.
He added that Yemen has adopted a number of perspectives including the establishment of economic zones and industrial free zones in one of the governorates where there are appropriate infrastructure, whether in Aden, Hodeidah, Lahj or Hadramout, noting that the joint domestic investments will work to create many job opportunities especially for the Yemeni people because it is within the territory of Yemen and at the same time, attract investments and promote trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
