President Ali Abdullah Saleh sent a message to the parliament containing the draft of constitutional amendments intended for Parliament’s debate.

According to media sources at the parliamentary presidency, Parliament will be briefed on this message on Saturday.

Due to the magnitude of constitutional amendments, any effort to upgrade the institutional structure and constitutional legislative authority in our country necessitates certain concessions. The Shura Council temporarily becomes a second chamber in the legislature as well as transitioning to a bicameral system.

The Parliament’s Presidency, within three days from the date of the amendment request, will review the draft and the reasons and justifications for the amendment, as well as include the draft among the priorities of the topics on the agenda.
