PM hands MTN's Executive Director the 2009 award for best telecommunications company

On Wednesday, Prime Minister (PM) Ali Mohammed Mujawar handed the MTN Executive Director the award for best telecommunication company in Yemen 2009. The award was handed over in an event organized by the Investment Corporation in joint cooperation with the General Investment Authority, Ministry of Trade and Industry, the General Chamber for Industry and Trade Association and under the sponsorship of the PM.
 
Raid Ahmed, the company's General Director received the award from HE PM Ali Mohammed Mujawar in the presence of a number of cabinet members, MPs, Shura Council members, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Yemen and General Directors. The event was also attended by officials of companies, institutions and banks operating in Yemen, who were also honored at the ceremony.
 
The prize was presented to MTN Yemen following a questionnaire carried out by the Investor Corporation "Journal of Investment," in cooperation with the General Authority for Investment. MTN ranked first obtaining the highest percentage of votes.
 
The company obtained this honor due its leading role in telecommunication and society development.  The success came as a result of the efforts of the company’s wise leadership, and the distinctive work done by its administrative and technical staff.
 
The participants praised the company’s leading role in the communal participation realized by the support of public   educational, health, sports and cultural efforts. They also commended the company’s sponsorship to sports clubs, humanitarian and charitable contributions, and the establishment of several free clinics, computer laboratories, and support to orphanages and disabled houses which distinguishes the company from all others.

 
Raid Ahmed MTN Executive Director gave a speech on behalf of all the honored companies this year, in which he said, “This honoring is not only a tribute to our company or our winner projects, but it is an honor to any outstanding performance anywhere. We need such initiatives as well the need for distinctive economic information not for the sake of show, but because we need to encourage any creative performances that inspire quality and perfection.”
 
Ahmed went on to say, “we need honest competition that makes us feel the size of our responsibility towards the society and our country which reminds us of the importance of maintaining continuous progress, thus creating an honorable reputation of Yemen’s investment so as to promote our national products, services and seek to acquire excellence at a time of open markets, free economy and world trade.
 
He acknowledged that the company will not stop at this success but it will continue its progress in providing the best services to the public and will also continue developing community services as social responsibility imposed on the private sector’s companies.
 
“We know very well that the public trust and our success force us not to be content with our achievements, but adds to our responsibility in seeking to add more and look forward to new future horizons, as every stage requires facing new competitors “ the Director said.  He stressed the positive impact of the award that encourages every company to continue its efforts to build and develop Yemeni society.
 
"Obtaining the honors and awards for distinct performance, should not make us brag but rather inspire us to make a new shift in developing our investment capacities and should push us towards new achievements in this qualitatively changing world in order to confirm our own excellence at home and abroad,” the Director went on to say.
 
Ahmed concluded by commending the events’ organization as well as the Yemeni government’s support and encouragement of their projects, saying that, “We highly Value the Yemeni government’s sponsorship and support of our projects, which encourages our efforts and distinction. We also praise the Investment Authority’s award and their continuous efforts for encouraging creative competition among the investors, despite the internal and external challenges. We also greet those interested in our investment environment and those who   shared in promoting trust and confidence in the investors’ minds.”
 
“We value very highly the Yemeni government’s support and care of our projects, as this is important to motivate innovation and generosity, excellence and we highly appreciate the efforts of the investor and the Foundation Award of the investment effort in demonstrating a keen interest in raising the vitality of competition between investors and the continuity of optimism and generosity in spite of all local and external challenges. We also salute all those sharing in our efforts and those interested in investing in promoting trust and confidence in the minds of investors.
