Minister of Foreign Affairs Abu Bakr al-Qirbi held a meeting on Wednesday with ambassadors of donor countries, resident coordinator of UNDP and representatives of international humanitarian organizations over the humanitarian plan for 2010.
The plan estimated needs of the internally displaced persons IDPs at $ 177 million in order to avoid an end to relief efforts and humanitarian services available for the IDPs.
In the meeting, deputy chairman of the ministerial committee for receiving IDPs Abdul Kareem al-Arhabi reviewed efforts of the government to reduce suffering of the displaced people, pointing to the coordination and cooperation between the government and other donors and humanitarian organizations to tackle all issues related to the relief process in addition to steps to send back IDPs to their regions and rebuild affected regions.
Head of the executive unit running IDPs camps Ahmed al-Kohlani thanked all humanitarian organizations for presenting assistance for the IDPs. Al-Qirbi affirmed the commitment of the government to strengthening peace in Saada, indicating to works of the follow-up committees for carrying out six points. He called on all for doubling efforts to tackle the humanitarian situation in the province.
Al-Qirbi also held a meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union to Sana’a over mutual cooperation between Yemen and European countries.
