“Make a bomb in the kitchen of your mom,” is one of the features on the cover of the first edition of Yemen-based Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s (AQAP) titled “Inspire”.

Inspire magazine was released on Sunday, according to SITE Intelligence, a US service that monitors Islamist websites.

The magazine included an article by Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda’s ideological godfather who addressed the Yemeni people asking them to stop supporting the United States of America (USA). “O noble and defiant tribes of Yemen, don’t agree to let Yemen be a supply center for the Crusader force against Muslim countries.” said al-Zawahiri, and he added “help to support your brothers the mujāhidīn and don’t support the Crusaders and their campaign which kills Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine,”

The cover page was topped with a quote by American anti-US firebrand cleric Anwar al-Awlaki saying “May our souls be sacrificed for you,” The magazine also published an interview with Abu Basir Nasir al-Wahishi, the head of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

According to the opening of this edition, this magazine appears to be geared towards transforming ordinary Muslims into mujāhid in Allāh’s path. “Our intent is to give the most accurate presentation of Islām as followed by the Salaf as-Salih. Our concern is for the ummah worldwide and thus we try to touch upon all major issues while giving attention to the events unfolding in the Arabian Peninsula as we witness it on the ground.” Said the editor whose name was not mentioned, he also added “Jihād has been deconstructed in our age and thus its revival in comprehension and endeavor is of utmost importance For the Caliphate’s manifestation.”

The magazine targets non-Arabic speakers, as it is in English language. The magazine was removed from the site shortly after less than 100 readings.

Inspire, the 67 page colored illustrated publication, was published through jihadist forums that are sometimes encrypted or otherwise difficult to access,  and appeared to have been designed with care, under the media foundation of al-Malahem.
