National awareness organization launches training program for Imams

The National Awareness Authority launched in cooperation with the Supreme Authority  of al Saleh’s  Mosque on August 8, through 27,  2010 the first session for Imams. At the inauguration ceremony which was attended by a number of ministers a remark was presented by the Minister of Endowments and Guidance Hamoud al-Hattar stressed the important role of the mosque in guiding  the  Islamic nation in history, referring to the qualities that must be met in an Imam so as to  be a model for guiding society, uniting it away from intolerance and extremism in their various forms.  He explained that the session is part of a plan incorporating four courses prepared by the National Organization to raise awareness for a group of Imams in various governorates. The minister commended the efforts of the National Awareness Organization  in promoting  values of love, tolerance and fraternity and in rejecting hatred and intolerance in the community, calling on participants in the session to take advantage of the session and apply them on the ground. 

The   Vice-President of the  Supreme Awareness Authority of    al Saleh mosque, Mohamed Abdullah Saleh affirmed the important role of preachers  in promoting values of love, peace, security, stability and the  renouncement of violence and the call for moderation.
 
He said, “  Islam completely eliminates the  so-called terrorism, extremism and harming the others in its core values. It also rejects corruption,    sabotage, and encourages harmony mutual understanding, sympathy and solidarity to prevail among the people in the pursuant of God’s commands. The Head of the National Awareness pointed out the need for everyone to have insight and awareness, adding that, “We all need  kindness because it gives us a chance to see what is happening around us so that we can  improve our approach to current events.”  The session’s supervisor Dr. Mohamed Najad said that the course aims at equipping 60 preachers from Governorates of the Capital Secretariat , Aden, Abian, Hadramout, Sa’dah, Shabwa, Marib and Al-Jouf with  skills and knowledge on a number of religious topics to rationalize the religious discourse and establish a moderate address  away from extremism, fanaticism and intolerance that don’t reflect the true values and principles of Islam.
 
He noted that the session would last for a week and is part of the Commission’s programs to promote values of moderation in the community through training and rehabilitation of preachers to activate their role in the society.
