The Yemeni Council for Transparency (YCT) opened last Tuesday envelopes of the international tender for approving the implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Yemen.  This tender comes within Yemen’s efforts of joining Transparency International (TI) in the extractive industries.

The number of companies credibly enlisted by TI is 13 international specialized  companies, however, only three have applied.

The YCT head, Dr. Mohammed Saleh Moqbil, explained that only technical offers submitted by the companies for analysis and evaluation have been opened, and pointed that the financial offers will be opened by the end of the next month for selecting the winning company.

The winning company will review the YCT works, bylaw, decision making, and the validation repot concerning the extractive industries, upon which Yemen would be accepted as a member of the international transparency initiative.
