Over 40 people killed in road accidents last week

About 234 traffic accidents occurred last week resulting in the death of 43 people and injury of 327, 200 of whom seriously.
 
According to a report issued by the Public Traffic Department, the accidents caused losses estimated at YR 39.4 million.
 
The accidents included 112 crash accidents, 92 over run, 29 turning over, and a falling accident.
 
The capital Sana’a was ranked first in terms of number of accidents with 72 traffic accidents, followed by Taiz province with 33 accidents, then Hodeidah province with 31 accidents and Sana’a province with 18 accidents.
 
While the number of accidents in Hajjah province amounted to 16 traffic accidents and six in Dhamar provinces.
 
The reasons behind the accidents were speeding, negligence in vehicles’ maintenance, technical faults, and wrong overtaking amongst other reasons.
