Abdullah Hassan al-Nakhibi, member of al-Harak – the Southern Secessionist Movement - announced his political faction would participate in Yemen National Dialogue without pre-conditions or pre-requisites as stated earlier this month, haviدng decided to all-heartedly give the impoverished nation a change to air its political dissensions through a peaceful and comprehensive dialogue.
In a statement to the press, al-Nakhibi hailed the victory of the armed forces against al-Qaeda in the southern province of Abyan, stressing it was through a tight collaboration of local tribal fighters organized in popular committees and the armed forces that Yemen so successfully stood against terror and freed its people.
His statement which was first published by al-Akhbar al-Youm newspaper, read Yemen’s victory would resonate long and wide across the country as it held so many meanings.
Both the liberation of the south from the rule of Islamists and the proof that together North and South Yemen could achieve greatness, Yemen’s battle against al-Qaeda will also be remembered as a victory against division. The politician said he’d hoped the victory will herald a new era for a united Yemen, against forces which sought to divide Yemen and destroy its institutions.
