In his speech at the UN, General Assembly, on Wednesday, Yemen's president Abd Rabo Mansour Hadi urged the International community to fulfill pledges for supporting Yemen

Speaking in the 67th regular session of the UN General Assembly held in New York, Hadi accented his full commitment to the implementation of the Gulf initiative.

We have lived difficult situations for over a year that could cause disastrous consequences in the country, but the conflict's parties had shown their wisdom and put the priority for the nation's interests and accepted the political settlement under the Gulf initiative, which was supported internationally, the President said.

The underway political arrangements in Yemen aimed at implementing the provisions of the initiative and the UN resolutions 2014 and 2051, which were supported by the Yemeni people and the regional and international communities, but there are still a lot of political, economic, security and social obstacles the Yemenis have suffered from and shape weaknesses hindering the country's development over the coming decades.

"We seek to build a new Yemen based on democracy and the Yemeni people chooses his rulers democratically in February 2014," he said, calling on all parties to participate in the national dialogue, which would forge the future of Yemen and deal with all pending dossiers and problems.

The last February presidential election represented a popular referendum on the change, pointing out the peaceful transition of power has been achieved due to the Yemeni people's insistence to end the rule of family.

He congratulated the Yemeni people on the 50th anniversary of the 26 September revolution, saying "the revolution's golden anniversary has come, while the transition of power was underpinned as a new historical fact.

Hadi indicated to the humanitarian situation, saying that Yemen is suffering from a tough condition as a result of terrorism and violence acts that led to the displacement of nearly 500,000 citizens from their villages, besides the mounting numbers of refugees from the Horn of Africa. As a result, the UN and its organizations announced appeal call to meet the humanitarian needs estimated as $ 600 million.

"What has been provided of this amount is less than 50 % of the requirements, I therefore claimed donors to respond to the UN's call to be able to meet the necessary needs of displaced people and refugees."

The President condemned the insult to the Prophet Mohammed (Pbuh) and the use of violence to express opinion, calling for enhancing dialogue and understanding between civilizations and religions as well as enacting international legislations to criminalize the defamation of religions.

It is regrettable that there is a campaign of repeating insult to Islam and its followers aimed at distorting their image in the world that increasing hatred among peoples of different religions, referring to the video denigrating the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh).

However, there are some, who defend such acts under the principle of freedom of opinion, ignoring that there is a limit should be placed, especially when they talk and offend peoples' beliefs.

Moreover, the President affirmed the Yemeni support for the right to declare a Palestinian state with full membership in UN and support the efforts of the international envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi to reach a solution to the Syrian crisis.

The President called for protecting Muslims in Myanmar who are suffering from an ethnic cleansing, urging to form an international commission of inquiry and punish those who committed crimes against Myanmar's Muslims.

Hadi expressed hope that stability will be restored in Somalia after the election of the new president, Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud.
