A source at the Ministry of Energy revealed a plot to blow up Mareb Gas Power Station.

“We’ve discovered a dangerous plan to bomb Mareb Gas Power Station with high-explosive bombs which could badly damage or fully destroy the turbines,” the source said.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Energy said a joint operations committee formed from the Ministries of Defense, Interior and Energy received information about the plot and briefed relevant security agencies. Security measures have been taken to protect the station.

Mareb Gas Power Station is the first gas-operated power station in Yemen and produces 432 megawatts per hour. It has suffered dozens of attacks since the beginning of the year.
