President Saleh has reduced the cost of broadband Internet by 30 percent and reduced the cost of calls within the Yemen Mobile network by 10 percent.
Saleh confirmed the changes during a visit to the Ministry of Telecommunications. He said the functioning of the telecommunications sector and technical information played an important role in economic development and increasing productivity. To do this, he said, it must provide communications services to citizens at a low cost.
Saleh also ordered to quickly complete the restructuring of Internet matrix operational procedures for the restructuring of the ministry and the development of telecommunications law.
Saleh ordered Yemen Mobile to return service to the communications network that was damaged in the northwestern region of the country and ordered them to begin seeking alternative methods to support service and to provide appropriate prices for citizens.
“The procedures to reduce the cost of Internet service are ongoing after the directives of president Saleh,” said an anonymous source at the Yemen Net communications company. “We are working to prepare and extend the field of ISDL technology. Also we will make an extension in the International Link that connects us to the International Internet to makes the Internet faster.” The source said that he believes the directives of President Saleh will play a big role in increasing Internet use in Yemen.
