Workshop advocating women begins in Taiz

The Social Affairs Office in Taiz, in collaboration with the capacity building project, held a workshop on behalf of the program for advocating women working in the educational sector. The workshop targeted 20 participants and was held at the Taiz Chamber of Commerce.

The workshop reviewed the working woman at the educational sector awareness’ booklet, in addition to holding awareness sessions on social justice, administration and negotiation and decision making recommendations’ deduction.

Ahmed Abdurrahman al-Alimi, Social Affair’s Office Manager, reviewed the role of woman in development administration in light of the the social justice project and the stages it underwent in 2004. 

Al-Alimi noted that this workshop preceded other workshops in the health and agriculture sectors and reviewed the challenges and the assessments up until 2033, regarding requirements for increasing population, classes teachers, and education expenses until 2033. It also took in consideration the high population rate of six children for each, the highest in the Arab world. This issue has a negative economic, social and political impact. 

Raja Abdulhalim al-Aghbari, development office manager, confirmed the office role in supporting the woman capacity building and raising her awareness with her constitutional rights, as well as the rights secured to her through the president’s election program.   

She said that the workshop is held by a focal team for advocating the working women. It is achieved through records of a field trip of a number of researchers interviewing model women who faced problems in the agriculture and health sectors. Now they are looking into the education sector.
