The upgrading of industry, trade and service in Yemen to reach global excellence is the overall objective of the Open Scientific Day for Quality that was launched by the Universal for Quality Systems under the sponsorship of President Ali Abdullah Saleh at the Sheba Hotel on Thursday.

The symposium was participated in by several groups from the industry, commercial and service sectors, as well as civil society institutions.

“We are very proud to launch this scientific day, and it will be annually near the same date. We are hoping to meet every year to evaluate the Yemeni quality,” said Dr. Ahmad al-Qadhab, manager of Universal for Quality System.

Al-Qadhab also stated that there is a national prize in the beginning of 2009 from distinguished foundations in cooperation with the General Authority of Standards and Quality Control. The prize will be presented to the best company operating in petroleum, commercial and service.

One of the important goals for the Open Day is the exchange of ideas and views in the scientific field of international quality between industrial enterprises, commercial, service sectors, as well as academia of local, regional and international levels.

Introduction of new methods and tools in the field of quality management for industrial and commercial institutions and national services is also one of the open day goals, in addition to access to global best practices in the field of international quality.

The Open Scientific Day for Quality has three axes; the first one is the quality management in the global industry and commercial and its impact on the national, regional and global levels. The second is the international specifications and the possibility of application in industrial enterprises, commercial and national services and the third is the successful global practices and the extent of benefit to upgrading the performance of industrial and commercial enterprises.
