British Minister of State for International Development Alan Duncan handed over a letter from Queen Elizabeth to Yemen President Abdu Rabbo Mansour Hadi on Monday

Duncan delivered President Hadi a letter from UK Queen Elizabeth II, including her congratulations to the president on winning the presidential election that has reflected the Yemeni people's desire to end the crisis.

Hadi reviewed the progress of the implementation of the political settlement in Yemen based on the Gulf initiative and the UN resolution 2014, in addition to the political, economic and security challenges that should be overcome by concurrent logical solutions.

Yemen waits for the friendly countries and donors' assistance to tackle such challenges and restore the normal life of the Yemeni people, Hadi said.

The British official praised the great efforts made by the President in order to avoid conflicts and civil war.

"We in the UK are proud of the good bilateral relations and cooperation with Yemen at different economic, political, humanitarian areas, particularly in social welfare and primary health", Duncan said.

He pointed to the UK's aid provided bilaterally or via donor countries and the Yemen's friends group which were united with the international community to help Yemen to deal with the crisis's difficult repercussions.

President Hadi and Duncan also touched on several issues of common concern at the local, regional and international levels.
