On International Press Freedom Day, the Ray newspaper honored its first editor and establisher, Mohammed Jassar, amid attendance of a number of journalists. Ghamdan al-Yosofi, the paper’s current editor, spoke at the gathering about Jassar’s role in helping many young journalists, who later became distinctive names in the field of journalism.

Carrying arms in Yemen is a culture that is prevailing throughout the country as a part of cultural dress. In many parts of Yemen, children at young ages start carrying arms and are often encouraged by their parents.

Fras Shamsan, a young man effected by the bad situations in Yemen, has been inspired to do something helpful. Shamsan who has never smoked a single cigarette, recently launched a campaign against smoking called “Life is better without smoking.”

South Korea has raised its support for Yemen from the $55 million promised at the Donor Conference held in 2006 in London to $100 million through 2007 to 2010, Yemen’s official news agency Saba reported.

The Grand Mosque of Sana’a is considered to be the oldest in the Islamic world. It was built by order of the Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) in the sixth Hijri year, corresponding to 627 C.E.. It is located in the Bathan garden, between Ghamdan palace and the Malmlamah rock.
