Managers and staff at the Saudi-German Hospital celebrate the two-year anniversary.

The Saudi German Hospital in Sana’a has celebrated its two years of work in Yemen. Sobhi al-Batterjee, chairman of the Saudi German Hospitals Group, explained how the hospital developed from an idea to its current successful state.
Al-Batterjee said that the idea of building the hospital started with the aim of assisting Yemenis who spent a lot of money to travel abroad for treatment that should be available in their home country. “After we decided to build the hospital, several banks refused to provide loans to us, but we overcame all difficulties,” he said.
Yemen has the right conditions for investment, he added. “The Saudi German Hospital became a model emulated by others and it is now proof of the success of investment in Yemen,” he stated. He stressed that the most successful sections in the hospital are the ones headed by Yemeni doctors. He also confirmed that they aim to become pioneers in the Middle East and excel in the provision of services and treatments.
Al-Batterjee announced that there will be a process of signing agreements to build a hospital in Sana’a and reviewed the way the group has evolved since its inception in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Egypt and now in Sudan and in the future, in Addis Ababa.
Dr. Salah Hamed, director of the hospital, presented a speech commemorating the occasion and reporting on the accomplishments made by the hospital in terms of major surgical operations. “The hospital also provides training courses for doctors, nurses, technicians and engineers free of charge, and we have conducted health research in collaboration with the Ministry of Health,” he said.
The celebration party was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abu Bakr al-Qirbi, and Mohammed Rezq al-Sermi, first deputy of the Capital, and a number of official representatives of the Interior, Insurance, Social Affairs, and Education Ministries.
VIP’s in attendance at the party included SYHC partners, the Saudi, Indonesian and Tunisian Ambassadors, the Deputy Saudi Ambassador, the Deputy Egyptian Ambassador, Chairman of Yemenia Mr. Tarek Abdul Wassa, the CEO of Hail Saeed Group, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Yahia Shoeiby, and the Minister of Social Affairs. There were around 150 other attendees in the auditorium from different companies and government offices.
