Hab Fort is invulnerable fort located at the top of a hill in the center of Sair province of Ba’dan district at about 15 kilometers far from Ibb city, Hab fort is at the top of Badan mountain, 3200 meters high above sea level.

‘It’s described as the Yemen’s most  fortified forts, the most difficult to up to, the most well-known,  and the most pictorial for the so many historical events took place around and for its severity. It stands up alone in Ba’dan navel as if it were an orator surrounded by numberless obvious villages, verdure hills worn by trees and matured fruits…it used to be the headquarter of  Al-Qil (Yarim Thu Raa’in) whose tomb was found there in the year of apostasy of Hijra..’, the historian, Mohammed bin Ali al-Akwa described.

From Hab Fort,  Rasolid King Modafer started off in the seventh century of Hijra to take over the mountainous regions after his father’s  Dawood, Sultan murder. He had received the fort in Rajab 648 of Hijra.

It is considered to be one of the most important historical castle in the Islamic era, for geometrician planning, impregnable martial building, it is distinguished with, in addition to its geographic strategic location; it overlooks a wide area of valleys and surrounded villages. It is deemed to be a symbol of national resistant figures against foreign invasion in Yemen modern history.

Hab fortress consists of a number of buildings,  water reservoirs, grain stores excavated in the rocks, as well as a mosque, a bath and a mill for oils. The fort is located at edge of a high cliff rock used as  invulnerable wall from the western and the northern sides and it is walled from the eastern and southern sides, with a 5 meters high wall. Through this wall, there is a gate leads the visitor to inside of the fort.

It was named ‘Hab’ due to that the Fort is used to be as a store for grains ‘hab’, and because it’s  located at the road of caravans which used to come loaded with grains to the fort.
