“I am delighted to be honored by such a reputable organization as al-Afif, which is known all over Yemen for its great contributions in promoting Yemeni culture in all facets of society,” Gamal said.
Raghda said that this honor and al-Afif’s appreciation for her work will push her forward to dedicate even more of her time to contribute to the promotion of Yemeni culture, to tell people about the rich cultural diversity present in the country.
Gamal went on to say, “Yemen is not a manufacturing country and doesn’t have well known industries. One of the things that it can sell to the world is its own culture.”
Al-Afif praised the newspapers that are helping to cover cultural news, which is almost ignored by independent newspapers and websites.
In order to take full advantage of what Yemeni culture can bring to the country, writers in Yemen need to cover more cultural stories to effectively promote it.
