Emirates Airline celebrated their 2009 annual agency awards at the Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday June 24th to honor its agents in Yemen.

Dress for guests was “Yemeni National Dress”, and as the awards ceremony was opened by the Area Manager Satish Sethi, he remarked “By wearing the Yemeni dress today, we wanted to show that we’re not just a foreign company operating in Yemen…we want to let you know that we’re a part of you”.

This year Emirates has had a successful year in Yemen, increasing its flights from five to six a week, and starting on July 7th, 2009, frequency will increase to seven a week, making Emirates flights daily.

Sethi also described Emirates services saying, “Emirates has always been committed to providing a quality product to its customers. We have a modern fleet of aircraft which includes airbus 380s. We fly to 100 destinations, we provide first class suites on most of our planes, an entertainment system with 500 channels, shower rooms on our airbus 380s, chauffeured driving services…you name it and the list goes on. We provide services which many airlines don’t”.

Along with expanding Emirates services to and from Yemen, the airline also recently opened a new office on Siteen Street with “brand new state of the art premises”.  As Sethi said, “with a bigger and a better equipped office, Emirates is able to serve customers better”.

Awards  at the ceremony went to 13 travel agents who have contributed to almost 60% of the revenue in Yemen, including the top 10, plus 3 more who were not in the top 10, but who contributed significantly.
