MTN Yemen hosts 400 orphans

MTN Yemen hosted 400 orphans at Fun City in Sana’a as an open day for orphans and part of MTN’s 21-day campaign that the company has allocated for social development projects.
 

The orphans were from Dar Rayat al-Aytam, al-Bara’ah Founation, al-Abtal Dar, and al-Lwa’a Dar for orphans.
 

In the ceremony held last Tuesday, marketing general manager Emn al-Masri talked about the campaign objectives that are represented by direct social services in its continued projects.
 

Al-Masri assured the necessity of providing all sorts of care and support to the orphans and to work on qualifying them to enable them take part in development as active members and important elements in society. Al-Masri expressed his delight in drawing a smile on the faces of orphans during this annual activity of MTN.
 

He then talked about the other activities that this year's campaign entailed, including cleaning a number of mosques, blanket distribution for cancer centers and kidney centers, donating a bus, and a YR 1 million to al-Tahdi Foundation for female handicapped as well as other social charity activities.
 

Foad Dahbah, MP and, on behalf of orphans Abdullah al-Haj hailed the efforts made by MTN in taking good care of orphans and orphan centers. Speeches in the ceremony called on all public and private institutions and organizations to take after MTN in supporting orphans, following the orders of the Prophet Mohammed.
 

The ceremony continued with artistic performances of songs, chanting, and poems that won the interest of the audience and reflected the creativity of orphans. At the conclusion of the event, games were distributed for the orphans. More than 100 employees from MTN attended the event in addition to social advisors of centers and representatives from the orphan centers.
 

In a related topic, MTN continued its 21-day campaign elsewhere by planting 500 trees in the garden of the Culture House in Sana'a. The trees were of various types and were planted in an area of 789 square meters. More trees were also planted in many parks in different governorates all over the country.
 

Minister of Culture, Dr. Abu Bakr al-Muflhi attended the planting that included flowers, in addition to restoring the watering network, the Culture House fountain, green paths, and trimming of trees. Al-Muflhi praised MTN efforts saying "Field works of MTN to serve the environment show the great awareness of the company's management, especially at the Culture House and Dar al-Kotab".
 

In the same context, MTN also launched traffic awareness campaign for drivers and passengers throughout Yemen by distributing guidance leaflets, stickers, and brochures that talk about road and driving dangers.
 

The 21-day campaign aims at providing direct social services that 800 employees from MTN have taken part in and carrying out 17 projects funded by MTN.
 

The campaign is organized by International MTN annually in the countries where MTN operates with 21 countries competing. MTN Yemen won first place in last year’s campaign.
