SANA’A, Aug. 23 (Saba) - Chaired by Prime Minister Ali Mujawar, the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (SCMC) approved in its meeting held on Saturday the action plan of the council for 2009.
The plan includes several policies, measures and programs enhancing efforts in field of rights of motherhood and childhood via encircling child trafficking phenomenon and setting up solutions for curing situations of street children and enlightening on social and humanitarian dimensions of underage marriage.
The plan aims at enhancing role of SCMC in following up carrying out articles of international treaty on children’s rights and carrying out the national plan for childhood and youth strategy as well as protecting children against violence, abuse and carelessness.
The meeting approved establishing a management for national supervision of child right in the framework of the council and creating unified data base within the ministry of planning and international cooperation and working on increasing childhood’s financial allowances.
The council directed reviewing curriculums for improving them to ensure Islamic norms and ideals and national concepts among children and youth via coordination between ministries of education and human rights.
